Anyone here use WinMX?
 

WinMX on my PC stopped working. I thought it was an issue with my PC, but my shop PC also stopped working. I hadn't changed firewall settings in a quite a while, and there was nothing weird in the logs. Adaware and Spybot came up clean. I diddled with various settings, swore at it, etc. Nothing. Everything else on the PC works fine.

So I installed a packet sniffer and watched; this is what I found (over and over and over)

192.168.1.100 206.13.31.12 DNS Standard query A c3523.z1301.winmx.com
206.13.31.12 192.168.1.100 DNS Standard query response, No such name

I tried an nslookup from a acouple of external shell accounts that I have - no such domain!

Is anyone else seeing this? Did I not get the memo?

I can nslookup any other host, and I even whois'd winmx.com and hit their name server directly - nada.

Yeah, no A records for anything.

Gone.

Is this a P2P network? Very well might have been shut down....
