Liberal vs Conservative
 

Conservatives see America as being virtuous...and can do no wrong....that we stand for Freedom, Democracy, God, Mom and Apple Pie....

Liberals see an America that can do NO right, that everything is done to serve special interests....and think that America SHOULD be more virtuous...

Yet America NEVER was nor NEVER will be virtuous and that the poor and special interest groups will always be with us...

This is REALITY....

In the scheme of Nation States and Empires...there are numerous examples of countries that are/were worse than the USA....but I can't think of one that has acted better, when so much power and wealth was bestowed on it...in other words our ideals are high but we mostly/sometimes fail to live up to them...

(One may think of little Switzerland...but their hands were dirty with Nazi gold....)

Man am I glad I came in for lunch.

The U.S. has literaly sat astride the world in three distinct eras and gone home each and every time, returning the wealth and treasure of nations. In the case of WWII, we actually helped to create wealth and treasure in the nations just defeated. No other nation state has/will do the same.

The rest of the the world was exhausted at the end of WWI. We were not. Put Ceasar in the american drivers seat and the colonies and lands of Europe were ours.

WWII. We all know the drill. Let Naploeon write the american screen play and the Pacific Fleet and armies get sent to Europe...we play tag with Russia and win.

Persian Gulf War part one. Who is going to tell us to go home, or stop if we don't want too? Let Stalin set the pace and we're paying less than a buck a gallon for gas.

My point is that none of the above scenarios are rational and acceptable because American's are different...thanks Tabs.

I believe in calling a spade a spade. I don't want to be delusional on either side of the coin.

It also grieves me to be so pessimistic on the future of American Democracy...but whoever thought a Presidential Election would be decided by Lawsuit....or that the Bureaucracy could fail so miserably with NO.....
