too much caffene
I think I had way too much caffene in the last two days. I've been having to pull quite a few all-nighters to get a project finished, so I've been drinking a lot of iced tea and mountain dew. Last night I went to this little coffe shop with my girlfriend and loaded up on some crazy mocha thingies... all I know, is that they were strong.
Well, halfway through mine, I started sweating a little, palms feeling a little sweaty, heart racing a little bit. I threw it in the trash and switched to water, but by then it was too late. I haven't had any caffene today, stuck to gatorade, water, apple juice... but I'm still feeling it. Very jittery, hyper-alert, and not feeling 100% normal. |
Caffeine will definately give your body a jolt of energy but like anything else that affects your metabolism, your body eventually reacts in a way to offset the change. You'll probably feel really run down for a few days after you finish your projects and the caffeine wears off. Lots of water and sleep will get you back to normal. Talk that gf into a few "stress relievers" in the mean-time. he he

Couplea 'ludes fix ya right up....

I have a caffine addiction. I swear I must drink at least 4 diet cokes a day to keep me up. In fact, I'm drinking one as I type. I am used to drinking this much for years now, so it must have very little effect on me now. Anyone know the effects of too much caffine other than stains on the teeth (lol)?

Strangling a democrat always helps me release caffeine induced anxiety.

I was in the same boat sveral years ago - up to 10 cups a day with a couple of Dewz. Had some crazy heart arythmia called trigameni (sp) occur. The doc said it was too much java. I quit for 5 years without incident, then Emmy was born and I had a deadline for a large article due. The monkey is back!
You will also notice the caffiene withdrawl headaches - thats always special |
The REPUBLICAN mayor of Spokane like nailing guys in the ass to release his caffeine induced anxiety.

I once nailed my thumb, the only thing that released was copius amounts of blood and a vile rant of swears...

My college regiment - Bass ale for inspiration, triple-shot cappuccinos for editing.
Graduated with honors; if not a bad liver and a strastopheric pulse rate... |

i thought i read somewhere that espresso has significantly less caffeine than brewed coffee. i think it was the ILLY website. which by the way, i feel is the best espresso, ever.
bryan, i think you were affected by lack of sleep. which has a bigger impact on how you feel. |

Also, sometimes I'll have Peets do an espresso grind with Major Dickason's blend. Yum... |
A 2oz shot of espresso runs about 80mg of caffeine, depending on how you pull it. A normal sized cup of brewed coffee (depending on your definition of "normal," and again on brewing process) contains roughly 150mg. Seems that Dew hits the charts at 120mg per can, or so, but I don't drink enough Dew to rate it accurately. Either way, that means that my morning 4-shot latte carries a whopping 320mg, or a little less than three Dew's, give or take.
Anyhow, I'm not sure what you poor blokes are referring to by "too much caffeine." While I was doing post-grad nuclear power study, I was known to pull as many as 16 shots in a day with no ill effects. I mean, aside from the fact that I never slept, I really just closed my eyes and twitched more slowly. My resting pulse was usually between 60 and 80 beats per minute, though, so I don't think that it could realistically have been effected. Somehow, it seemed like everyone else was moving very slowly, though. How odd. |
