Diesel Fuel Powered Jet Pack - the latest insanity
So Max had the idea that he would like a build a jet pack. In our quest for relitivley cheap fuel source, we chose diesel. Below is our low tech attempt. I served its purpose for about 15 minutes!

Well Matt, it wasn't easy. The materials were found in the garage and the design was nothing lss than devine intervention. The power source was actually a 42 year old accompanied by some line and creative use of a mining safety belt.
The faux power cylinder is nothing more than a diesel fuel sample container. Originally that container was supposed to spew a propellent-like substance (a classified mixture of vinger and baking soda) but the mixture never produced the proper explosive effect to even appear to look like a rocket contrail, let alone lift a 64lb 6yr old into the ionosphere. What you don't see are some of the crash landings that sent that 6yr old and the 42 yr old power source into fits of laughter. (Notice that Mommy decides not to look!) Good times.

ChrisC - that is cool, I will have to show Max. He will want to do the al foil for version 2. NASA could have saved some money by using garage brakets and pvc instead of those expensive looking handles!

Sorry, but when he reaches driving age, a Porsche just aint gonna cut it. Looks like you've got a pretty cool boy! And you must be a heck of a fun dad. |

The lack of a fire extinguisher nearby scares me. I don't care if it is just a rope and an empty container...
