Recommend good road atlas
In a couple weeks, I'm going to be driving from Austin, TX to Abington, Va in a couple weeks (not in the Porsche... I don't think it would make it!). What's a good road atlas to get?
I'll probably plot the trip on Mapquest or something and print some maps out, but I'd like to have a good atlas to refer to if needed. TIA, M@

I have a Rand Mcnally (sp?) Road Atlas in my car. It has very good detail of all of the states and roads. I think they have one page per state (unless the state is very large, then they use 2 or 3 pages) and about 5 enlargements of the big cities in that state. It's very helpful and large, so it's a lot better than fold up maps. You can probably get one at K-mart, WalMart, or Target. I think they are about $10.

Microsoft Streets and trips. Cannot live without it, but then feel the same way about my Garmin Street Pilot 3.

I'd do the MS route. Actually, I have one of MS's map programs (MSDN subscriptions are nice...), but I don't think I'll be lugging the laptop with me on the trip, so I'm gonna go traditional.
And I do not have a GPS unit... I think it would be hella cool, but I rarely roadtrip without having a map or two. Like I mentioned, I usually print out a few maps from Mapquest.

Rand McNally, or AAA...check the mall bookstores. I picked up a AAA for $3.98. The previous year edition. For as often as I use one, I didn't figure one year would make that much difference.
