aluminum polishing...kit & supplies..help

Greetings all.....well the new project is home in the garage.
this old duck is gonna need a LOT of work. looks like i'd better learn how to restore aluminum. anyone have any tips?
after searching the web, i'm overwhelmed at how many products there are. anyone have any expericenc with polishing aluminum?
i'll have to polish the engine & case covers, etc. lots to do!!
any help appreciated...cheers.

Simichrome polish and an electric buffer, not that sissy orbital crap, but the angle grinder, heavy duty machine.
