Miami, a car lovers dream
I just got back from a 3 day weekend in Key Biscayne, Miami at the Ritz-Carlton . We were celebrating our 16th Wed. Ann. and could not have picked a better place to do it.
The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We were on the club level and had a concierge who looked after our every need. He even had a bottle champaign delivered to our suite while we were out to dinner Saturday night. He offered to put us on the lists at the doors of some of the more popular clubs but we declined. We are not really into the club scene anymore. We decided to head to South Beach on Saturday for dinner at The Forge and drinks at the Delano. Our concierge arranged for a towncar to pick us up and taxi us around. The driver informed us that they are filming a remake of Miami Vice starring Colin Ferral and Jamie Fox directed by Mickeal Mann. He was also driving around Buster Rymes a couple of weeks earlier for the MTV Video awards and said he was really mellow.... I wonder why... The Forge was a lot of hype and a big disapointment. I had their Super Steak, supposidly the best steak in America, paying $45 for just the steak I was expecting something more tender and more flavorful. Its a bad sign when they present "dipping sauces" with your steak. The wifes Lobster Thermidor was overcooked and chewy. The atmosphere was chic with house music and new age music playing loud enough in the bar to be heard through out the restruant without being overbearing. The Delano was simply amazing. I knew we were heading to a hot spot when a Ford GT was pulling out of the Valet and a Ferrari Enzo was parked out front. The decor in the lobby alone is worth the stop alone. We hung out in the lobby and people watched over some cocktails while listening to the "Lobby d.j." spin some of the newest mixes. We then headed out back to the pool area where beds were set up all around the pool for you to lay out and enjoy the wonderful Miami evening. Of couse there was a pool d.j. as well. The crowd was very mixed and friendly. We saw people in their early 20's to late 60's all over. The Valet at the Ritz was a car lovers dream. I was on a first name basis with one of the Velets on duty. He would tip me off if I missed an exotic and to look for it back later on or in the morning. For your enjoyment. Car Porn. Downtown Miami Skyline when driving to Key Biscayne. ![]() Car shots: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

BTW - We went over to Cocowalk in Coconut Grove on Saturday for lunch. That might be the most Porsche 900 series cars I have ever seen. I stopped counting after seeing 40+.

Jim, I see you live in Florida. Don't you see cars like this all of the time?
