San Francisco - Porsche Capital?
I have been in the San Jose/San Francisco area for the past 3 days. I can't believe how many 911's there are out here, mostly 996's but I have seen more old ones than ever without some kind of an official meet or PCA gathering. Among others, I saw 3 older ones within 10 min on a drive from Sausalito over the GG bridge. (2 on the bridge). Man oh man, you guys actually drive them out here.
Also saw 2 914's (never see those near me) more BMW 2002s than I could shake a stick at, the new Lotus, some kind of classic lotus, the list goes on and on. I was in LA earlier in the summer and SF has it beat by miles. You San Franciscans have a nice city!

I'm in Moraga (about 20 miles east of SF) which is a small suburb and I must encounter at least 1 P-car on my commute to and from school (a total of 7 miles). Heck, I just saw a 996 cabriolet parked at a house near where my friend lives, and I only had to drive 0.5 miles to see that. So, yes there are a lot of Pcars here.
![]() Thank you for the San Franciscan comments! Here are some photos I took of a recent drive through the hills with the Pcar (about 4 miles away from me): ![]()

I was in SF for a week in June and it blew my mind how many I saw. Boxsters everywhere, tons of 911s, and a few 914s.

Well, then I feel a lot more "exclusive" in my part of the world.
Driven around this summer I have probably only seen three or four older Porsche´s. 996 and Boxter a bit more common.

I saw my first 997 the other day here in N Alabama. I was beginning to think they didn't really exist.

I live in Redwood City. And you’re right! Compared to LA, the San Francisco Bay Area, (San Francisco - San Jose on the peninsula) is about 1/8 the size of LA if not smaller. Yet there are a ton of P-cars,356, Speedsters, 911's, 914's, 964's, 993's 996's, 997's!!!, Beck Spyders (on in San Carlos and another in Woodside) Ferraris (from Enzo's to 250GT Spyders), Lambos, new Maserati's , Maybach's (2) Lotus's, Ford GT's, Replica Cobras (summer time) etc. So for nice cars per square mile, I think we have LA beat!
But remember, this area has some of the most expensive real estate in the nation. With expensive homes comes expensive cars. And Redwood City just got a Ferrari Dealership! Talk about eye-candy!

I wish I had some time to link up with some other Pelicans. The way this client is though, I will probably be back.
