Mtd Tiller - Briggs & Stratton Carb

I have a tiller with a five horse power engine.
Model 216 410 336.
It's a MTD Tiller - Rear Tine.
Briggs and Stratton engine.
ENGINE MODEL NBR: 135202

ENGINE NBR: 0258-01 OR OZ58-01

CODE NBR: 960411YE

I'm trying to find a diagram for the carb linkage.
Anyone have one or know where I can get some pictures to see how the linkage is set up. I bought it used and I think it might be missing some linkage. I cleaned the carb and replaced the rusted gas tank. Starts and idles well but the governor seems to be not working............ but the rod is in place.
Somthings got to be missing.
Thanks K. T. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sears.com probably has it. You can search by engine type and number.

Does this help?

Here's a site with diagrams for just about anything you could be looking for...

http://m-and-d.com/parts.html

- click on the "Illustared Parts Diagrams online" image
- click on "Click here for online parts lookup"
- Select catalog ---> Briggs and Stratton
- select folders to drill down to the engine model # 135202
- select sub assembly diagram

good luck

Good luck with anything MTD these days

My gf bought an MTD string trimmer new and it has NEVER ran. Now, I can turn wrenches and still can't get it to run. A factory service center could not get it to run.

I am currently not real fond of MTD.

Most lawn and garden stuff is crap today.

I have a 40-year-old Allis-Chalmers garden tractor that was my grandfather's. It was my hobby before my car. Need to fix the mower, but it still sees service plowing and tilling. The 12 horse (more importantly, 21 lb-ft.) cast-iron flathead Briggs doesn't smoke, and was never rebuilt. Just about nothing made today matches the lifespan and even the quality of the job that my little AC can do.

Anyways...the number you gave is for an old-school 5-horse, which is a solid engine. An Illustrated Parts List would also help show parts layout. Briggs has free PDFs on the repair section of their site. You found the numbers, it's a cinch to plug them in.

To further add to a long post, I have a little PSA: Don't junk these engines. A yearly filter and oil change does wonders for them. Checking the oil before you use a small engine is also crucial.

on the 5 horse Briggs, make sure you buy a couple of part 394's. They tend to wear pretty quickly.
