If you've never seen what a .50 caliber rifle will do to an "insurgent", check out this video...

They do not mention that a .22 will also shoot down an airplane as well if you are good enough with it. They want to ban all guns, then it will be slingshots, knives and baseball bat's next.
Hope that there is a special place in hell for Sarah Brady and her friends... JoeA

This has been going on for years. Its only a matter of time. If you ever want to own a .50 BMG, get it now.

Scott,
Personally I would be more worried about them getting old radioactive materials from hospitals and such. Put that in the middle of a yellow Ryder moving van (where have we seen this before?) and line it with explosives. Make sure its a good windy day and park it 10 miles West of NYC, DC or the like and set the timer. The resulting dirty bomb would scatter radiation over hundreds of miles and while it would not last that long, the particles would go everywhere including inside our lungs. Our Govt people are aware of this scenario and are working on it. There are detectors in various places around the country and the larger cities. There are also aircraft flying around "snooping" for this. None of this is classified and I just hope that if some idiot tries it that we stop it before it blows... JoeA

Just finished reading "Shooter" By Jack Coughlin. Good, fast read about sniping in Iraq and his desire to have a mobile sniper task force. Impressive shooting...as it should be.

It isn't a .50 either, probably a .22 centerfire, or a 6mm varmint round. It's from one of the "Varmint Safari" videos, you can order here: http://www.rmvh.com/Scenes.htm Tom |

If these nutjobs want to keep crusading to save lives, why don't they concentrate on something that would actually be beneficial...like cigarettes or drunk driving?
The last legal 50BMG semiauto I saw for sale locally here in Los Antigungeles was like $8500. I don't recall if it was a Barrett or what. Big, heavy, expensive, and challenging to shoot -- just what every gangbanger or 7-Eleven robber is going to gravitate towards! Sheesh...

A much more serious and likely "bomb" would be some dynamite on the side of a railroad tanker car full of chlorine gas. Easy to identify, they say Chlorine Gas on the side, easy to get to, note all the grafitti, and very lethal. A ruptured chlorine tanker in a major metropolitan city could easily kill thousands in a few seconds.
