NY Chuck Schmuckler pulls a Nixon!
September 22, 2005 -- WASHINGTON — Two staffers on a Democratic political committee headed by Sen. Chuck Schumer are being investigated by the FBI for an alleged dirty trick — getting a Republican candidate's credit report illegally, officials confirmed yesterday.
"We are investigating the matter jointly with the FBI," said a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Washington. Phil Singer, a spokesman for the Schumer-headed Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said two staffers were instantly suspended — with pay (that'll show 'em) — in July after admitting they obtained the credit report of... Now, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this type of felonious conduct that which led to Nixon stepping down? Let me guess...Schmuckler had no idea it was happening?...But Nixon did, right? Federal prosecutors are investigating whether two Democratic Party researchers in Washington illegally obtained the credit report of Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele as they conducted opposition research on the likely Republican Senate candidate.
Phil Singer, a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, acknowledged yesterday that two of his organization's employees had resigned as a result of the episode, which he said was subsequently referred to the U.S. attorney's office by the Democratic committee. ... The DSCC, the arm of the Democratic Party tasked with promoting Senate candidates, declined to disclose the names of the employees involved. But sources with knowledge of the episode identified them as Katie Barge, the committee's former research director, and Lauren Weiner, an employee who had been researching Steele even before he formed an exploratory committee for Senate in June. So a Schmuckler staffer committed felonies for the DSCC (Schmuckler's baby) and he and they get a free pass and cover-up? WashingtonCompost The media is not covering it...down down down the memory hole. |

"Filegate" grabbed the attention of official Washington in when it was revealed that a White House security officials had managed to acquire some 900 FBI files -- including those of several prominent Republicans who served in the Bush and Reagan administrations."
I am sure the security officials just went down to the local liquor store, got some smokes, and 900 FBI files just in case...Clintons ask for them?....nahhhhhhh CNN Clinton White House enemies list Too bad Clinton didn't tape himself like Nixon did. Its in the NY Times too. They've been very naughty, and shouldn't be allowed to be president any more.

Funny that the liberals do not want to discuss this, kinda like the newspapers and television stations who are barely mentioning it.

But assuming what you write is accurate, no, its nothing like Watergate. Nixon was held accountable for what Nixon did, not for what the burglars did. Nixon covered-up CREEP's involvement, as the Republican Impeachment Committee determined. So unless the actions of these staffers was directed by Schumer, or unless he attempted to cover up their wrongdoing, this is nothing like Watergate. This was wrongdoing by some low level staffers in the campaign office. |

Wrong Rodeo...Nixon was charged with covering up the attempted illegal acquisition of dirt on the DNC...Dirt gathering was the extent of Nixon's crime--that is if we are to use Clinton's "all about sex" crimes as measure (although the true crimes of Nixon (less so) and Clinton (more so) was nothing other than a coverup).
These were felonies committed with either the explicit knowledge or direction of Schumer...As they were actually planned, executed and covered up by his office. BTW...No I do not put in quotes anything consistently that is not somebody elses. |

Small newspapers get their heads up from the big papers thru a special subscription. The lefty country wide NY Times is a subject leader that others follow. Chucky Schumcky is the most left wing pol in the most left wing state. He makes Hillary look like a centralist. You think Arnold has Sacramento pol probs, you should see the Albany legislature combo of Dem's & Rep's. The NY Rep's can be thought of as moderate Dem's. The Dem's as far left.
I really think a pro like Schumcky covered his ass on this one. And the Times doesn't want to disturb the anti Bush crowd again.. or is it again & again & again. The Times must know what it's doing as they have to sell papers to stay in business. Marvel & DC comics were a good business. Nothing lasts forever.
