CA Prop 80
Anybody have something to consider on this. I am usually predisposed to vote no on all propositions, but this one might get a yes vote from me.
I like the CA GOP take on this" A repeat of the blackout days of Gray Davis, this measure would prohibit private companies from lining up the best electricity prices". Boy, what hypocrites. They blamed the energy crisis on deregulation under Davis and now say re-regulation will cause another energy crisis. Last edited by stevepaa; 10-12-2005 at 12:08 PM.. |

Deregulation of electric power is going to happen. Simply because there is COLOSSAL money in it. I'm in the public works industry and I've been asking industry professionals for years to point me to any literature that outlines how this would be good for the ordinary household consumer. Nothing has been shown to me yet. Because it's NOT going to be good for us. Electric power is a perfect example of an industry that should be publicly owned. We paid for the poles, the wires, the generating plants, for the most part (or private businesses that are heavily regulation, same thing) and now somebody wants to come in and sell us our own power, using our facilities, at a profit. Of course it will happen. Some businesses are going to make a lot of money selling this, and some others are going to get cut a fat hog because they buy more of it than we individual consumers do, and the ordinary household consumer is going to be the loser in this game. You watch. How much have your phone bills been reduced since that industry was deregulated?
