Thumbs up Classic 1966 Mustang!!!

Anyone interested in a 1966 Mustang Coupe?? One of our entertainers is selling one. She has owned and used it as as driver for I think 37 years. It is a 289 V8, she is asking $8,000

It was delivered a little while ago, and I now have more info and can take more pix 289 V8, duel exhaust, automatic, positraction rear, factory A/C, vinyl top. One owner since 1969 who had it maintained to Factory specs the entire time (most service done at Don Barry Mustang, in Jacksonville, FL).

Hope it finds a good home. Nice looking car and deserves to be saved.

Do you have any pics of the interior? How does it run?

Same. Mine was a yellow 66 with black vinal top and a 200CID straight six. Drove it for a couple years before the tranny went. Sold it a few years later to a guy in PA as a resoration project. Yes, look for rust under the carpet in driver and passenger foot wells. The cowells are know to rust through and leak water inside.

Runs fine, very nice sound. Int. needs a little work, but not bad for a 39 year Pony old car

I got my drivers license in a friend copper colored 66 coupe with a 6 in it. My father didn't want me to get my license yes as his insurance would go up so I borrowed my friend's who was a senior (I was a soph) car, went before school, passed, drove to school and parked in the Senior Football players lot (my bud was capt of the football team) and made it to home room on time with my new drivers license

Nice car, if I had the money and room, one of those would be in my dream garage.

Factory air?

If anyone goes looking for one of these, lift up the trunk liner cover and examine the metal seam holding up the gas tank. I could see a little ground on mine just before I sold it. Happened by it's self in just 2-1/2 years, must be one of those inside out weld rust things.

Great looking old car! A very worthy project.
"examine the metal seam holding up the gas tank"
Very good advice! Here in the salt belt, a friend at college many years ago had a '69 Mustang convertible which was only 5 years old. Filled it up with gas & hit the highway. Hit a bump as he got up to speed & watched with horror in the rear-view mirror as his gas tank, which had fallen out from under the back of the car, skidded down the road after him!

Byron,

Nice straight car!
I am not a Mustang expert but my sister's first car was a '66. The pic you posted is the body style previous to the '66, unless they changed mid year. On my sister's car the rear tail light area had the concave roll.

Check it out....let me know if I'm wrong.

That would make your sister's car a 1967 or 1968.

About 2 inches wider and 250lbs heavier.

Those wierd ass bumper guards are actually a rare Ford add-on, believe it or not. Saw them in the 66 Mustang accessory brochure.

I would be interested - if I lived near by.

Always heart warming when, like with many of our cars, you see such an old classic thats been used daily for several decades and still run strong.

I think that car has been a happy Pony !
