Remote Controls - any that don't suck?
I'm looking for a good, solid remote control. I want screws over the battery compartment, and aluminum or magnesium case. Does such a thing exist?? Every remote I can remember as a child had the battery compartment covered by tape. After two months with my new TV, the battery cover for its remote just up and decided to break. I'm careful with my crap, how the heck?!
So, the search begins. Anyone else share my frustration? |

I've had the same cheesy RCA universal programmable remote for the past 5 years. It gets dropped onto our saltillo-tile-over-concrete floor on a regular basis. Still works like a charm <knocks on wood>. Our DVD and our HT remote are separate from the uni and have been working fine for years. The only one that's ever broken on me was the original TV remote and that took 4 years for it to happen. |

I'm really not though! I could understand all of the broken remotes growing up with a brother and sister... we were always throwing things & whatnot. But my remotes never leave the living room area, and it's just me and my girlfriend that....
oh... hmm... I think i might have found the breaker. She fidgits like crazy. I bet she destroyed my remote. Crap, okay, any "fidget-proof remotes" then?? :) |

For years, we survived without remote controls...I resisted buying a TV set with a remote. I mean, any guy who is so damned lazy that he can't get his wife or kid to get off the couch and change the channel, I have no respect for! :D
