I admit it, the oil company won.
I filled up the suburban the other day, 40 gallons at $3 per gallon and the strange part is I didn't even consider the cost. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until an hour later that I realized I had just spent $100+ on gas. I don't make a huge amount of money but I have adjusted to $3 a gallon...they won. I'd feel like I was getting a bargin at $2.50/gallon...I guess I have moved on or just adjusted...don't care any more, they won.

I will not give up. Toyota Corolla base 4 banger daily driver. You'd be surprised what you can fit inside the car. 911 sits in the garage most of the time, try to fill it up when the prices drop. I would like my next daily to be a Prius - as long as they fix the software bug!
Oh yeah, Corolla gets great mileage and the stock radio speakers are way better than the 911! Dave

The 'software bug' in the Prius is a long known 'bug'. The software shuts the internal combustion engine off when any parameter is in the red. Wouldn't you shut the engine off if something was wrong? The electric side will still go 7 or 8 miles on worst case batt alone. Farther if this happens when the batt cycle is full.
For some reason there is a hysteria in the news media that the "Hybrid Technology" should cause a driver's engine to shut off. Sounds like the hysteria is in the drivers' seat as well as the media. I am riding the bikes a lot more for my commute. The Prius gets 330 to 500 miles on 9 gallons of regular. Depends on speed, use of the cruise control. I average 43 MPG across the board. The bikes get 25 to 50 depending on which bike. The oil companies did win. They always have. Always will.

Never give up!
I'm still working on a car that runs on beer, what's cheap beer going for nowadays? And if the car breaks down you could always siphon the tank while waiting for the tow truck to arrive.

Lets see, Budweiser at 10.99 for an 18 pack, plus tax and redemption value is about $12.35 for an 18 out the door. 18 x 12 oz=216 ounces. A gallon is 144 ounces so using beer is about $18.525 per gallon. Damn, I'm going to start drinking gasoline at $3.15/gallon.

Knowing Hugh, he was talking an English (British) Gallon.
The way things are going lately, yes that is tongue in cheek.

Your right 128. But you get my point. I'm amazed when people complain about the price of gas and then buy a $4/liter bottle of water.

If you're going thru 40 gallons of Budweiser a week, you might have a problem.

Elastic and non-elastic products...fuel is typical non-elastic product and thus good for making profit on by gauging prices.
