Convertors to MP3 from WMAs for IPOD
OK, since IPODs wont play "protected" songs in WMA format, (like from Napster) someone must know of a convertor program out there to change them to MP3s. Right now, I have to burn them to a CD, them rip them back to my PC in MP3 format, and then load them into the IPOD. Big P.I.T.A...... And no, im going to use ITunes....
Anybody? |
There is at least one "transcoder" plug-in for Winamp, and there's also an iPod plug-in (which I haven't tried yet). With Winamp Pro and a few free plug-ins, you can basically play, convert, rip or burn just about anything.

Let me add that Ive found several programs that do it, but im looking for a FREE one!!

I'm not sure, but I suspect the winamp transcoder plug-in will work fine with the regular/free winamp.

iTunes

itunes suk. But besides that, I already have @ 500 songs in WMA format, which is why i need the converter.

Same here - want to put some on my mp3 Sony-Ericsson phone - only mp3.

versiontracker.com
If you can't find it there it does not exist. |
Thanks in advance!

Hmmm..... well, LAME (Lame Ain't an MP3 Encoder) is my standard fare for making mp3's, though it doesn't look like it'll take a WMA input. My bet is that in order to get the code for working with a Microsoft(tm) Windows(tm) Media(tm) file, the people who build that software pay a hefty licensing fee, which would explain the lack of free options.
