'89 p226 in 9mm CPO. Looks like it was a safe queen. Not for long...

HardDrive 10-18-2005 11:27 PM

NICE. SOOOOOOOOOO jealous.

220, 226, 229.....such nice guns. Not the prettiest girls at the dance, but man are they accurate.

fintstone 10-18-2005 11:29 PM

For sale cheap. Only used on Sundays by a little old lady...to rob gas stations.

Looks like I'm gona have to show U what a REAL SIG looks like....

on-ramp 10-19-2005 02:47 AM

what's up with all the gun fascination around here?

You guys are getting me interested now :)

jyl 10-19-2005 02:50 AM

Congratulations!

Edit:

That certainly is a purposeful-looking gun.

Be sure to post target pics. I'd be interested in seeing a comparison of offhand groups with benchrest groups.

Also get some ammo that is hard to feed, and see how it does.

red-beard 10-19-2005 03:34 AM

Nice Sig. What did that p226 run you?

Shaun @ Tru6 10-19-2005 04:41 AM

Tell me there's not really a phrase "safe queen."

never shot a handgun before, all this talk/pics and I'm now intrigued.

VINMAN 10-19-2005 04:45 AM

It is really fun, Shaun. I just do paper targets. Hanging out at the range, chit-chatting with other shooters, punching paper and doing the zen thing - makes for a very pleasant afternoon. You can do it really cheap with a basic .22. Start out focused on gun safety training, there have been some threads here about it.

Todd, you are definitely going through a serious mid-life crisis.

Hmmmmm dunno, oppressed by his wife for years, now living alone, then 'downsized' (?) by his work...the stress mounting, and this new interest in handguns.

I think we need to start a pool on what date we'll be seeing Todd on the evening news...

pbs911 10-19-2005 07:36 AM

Todd, let me know where you go shooting. I'll bring my 9mm, .357, .40 and 45 ACP. Maybe we can have a group shoot!

Thanks John, I'll look into it. I definitely need a refresher on gun safety and training. when we lived in MN, we'd go hunting quite a bit, I've got a little 410 and a very old Winchester 30-30... very cool gun! But that was ages ago.

Do you guys know what Sigmund Freud would say about your fascination with shooting guns?

jyl 10-19-2005 07:41 AM

And Porsches . . .

You guys are going to get me a pool? Can it have a jacuzzi too?

Not really downsized...we got a new executive director in Sept. I'm #2, and you know how a boss likes to "change" things. So I've got a couple irons in the fire, and he still wants me around to work on a few research projects. Tomorrow I interview at Disney for a VP position, but don't know that I want to go corporate yet.

Corporate? Hmm...maybe a nice civil service job is the way to go

I shoot at LAX range, which is on Manchester near LAX (oddly enough). Fairly cheap and you get an interesting group of people there.

I lovingly embraced my midlife crises a bit over 4 years ago (admitting so publically on Pelican). It would appear to be going strong, so instead of a crisis, maybe its just me doing things that are more "me" than somebody else's imprint on me.

And besides, classic mid-life crises are punctuated by red sports cars. Mine is silver, so I'm safe :p

5 track days scheduled for November, 2 of them instructing, all of them as an ongoing "student". Its going to be a good month...

nostatic 10-19-2005 09:47 AM

no ponytail...just a short razor cut (home job). no piercings...never will go there. No tats either. Just isn't me.

I am nothing if not efficient and committed.
