Well, Shaun, I listened to all 4:45, which minutes of my life I'm never going to get back.

An utter waste of time, because I already knew to expect editorial bias from NPR, even to going to the extent of rolling the outtake in which these soldiers, many of whom probably have never spoken to the CINC directly nor appeared on a satellite uplink, were prepared for what to expect.

There are many fine ways to criticize both the policy of the Bush Administration and the man himself. This ain't one, however.

Shawn,

I was there, sitting in the cockpit of the jet in NYC the minute that the first airliner hit the WTC. My copilot ran out to the plane and got me. Went inside to watch the TV and while doing so the second plane hit. First words out of my mouth were "Bin Laden"... I had returned from being based in the Middle East only 4 years before and knew that now it was officially a religious war...

Where were you Shawn?

Are you serious? I'm no fan of the President, but what a yawn. You want compelling staging? Nobody can touch Bill Clinton. Remember his famous stroll on the beach at Normandy? An aide had previously scattered small stones on the beach so Clinton could "spontaneously" move them into the shape of a cross for the TV cameras. Brilliant performance, just brilliant, but again...so what?

Dave, it's a fricken drug! Well I guess no one can complain about 'liberal media' anymore because ALL news stations have had access to the rehersal feed and I've only seen it on the NPR site and CBC here in Canada.

If there was truly a liberal media bias, wouldn't every station be showing this on every update?

I think you guys could watch a video of Bush killing puppies, and you wouldn't miss a beat. The best thing you could say about this latest episode was that it was amateurish and embarrassing. A more cynical view is that the propaganda machine needs some oiling. But not for the W apologists on this board of course.

Actually I was at the Pentagon..smelling the burned flesh of my fellow GIs. I did not see you there, Shaun. Why would anyone try to use our respones (or preparations for response) for propaganda against their own leadership? Shame!
