SigSauer P239 in 40 S&W. $400 including tax...

Under the slide, there are no mars in the finish. It looks like it was fired once. :D

Wait, you've been re-orged out...

Come to Texas!!! Austin is almost like LA LA Land...without the taxes...

Red-beard, how would you compare the SIG-Sauer, the HK USP, and the Glock?

HardDrive 10-19-2005 07:24 PM

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHGHHHHH!!!! Stop it!

Oh man ...you guys are going to get me in so much trouble with the da wife.....

When I get a gun, THAT will be the one I get. Of all of 'em I've seen so far, that's my favorite.

Shuie 10-19-2005 08:00 PM

I like the P225 a little better, but those are really nice and flat. They feel a little top heavy and there is something kinda fonky about the grip angle and the location of the slide release and my thumb though. I always lock the slide open halfway through a magazine when I shoot one.

I prefer the Browning locked breech design over blowback.

we have (maybe) the same HK. isnt there a flip out trigger stop that you can adjust to make it very crispy? i want that HK here.

Me to. Every gun mentioned here uses a modified browning locked breech. The P225 is a miniature P220 in 9mm. Are you talking about a P230 or a P232? Those are the only blowback sigs I can think of.

Nostatic, rent a P210 for grins. Once you really learn how to shoot (it wont take you long judging from the pics youve already posted) youre going to want to shoot one of those every once in a while.

red-beard 10-20-2005 06:21 PM

The HK USP has a slightly longer barrel and is only available in 9mm. They weigh about the same. The USP has a larger magazine.

If you want lots of shots, the HK or a Glock. If you want unquestioned reliability, the SIG is the way to go.

My next purchase will probably be a Browning High Power Standard.

Oh and I just picked up a Colt/Browning 1903 Pocket .25 ACP.

And I'm also looking at an early Colt .380 or .32

p239 doesn't really send me. CCW isn't an option here, so i'd rather have something that fits well in my hand and is well balanced. p220 is still my fav I think, but I also want to find a p225 since it is supposed to have the same grip profile as the 220.

I'm thinking a .22 revolver would be nice if I want to take a "friend" to the range...

red-beard 10-21-2005 04:00 AM

A .22 is great for the range, for teaching you sighting, trigger control and breathing. Plus, you can get something like 550 rounds for $8.50. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than even 9mm.

CCW not an option? Try shopping your county to apply.

goto www.packing.org and look at the California Page.

Anyone here have any thoughts about a Browning High Power? I have held them before and they feel good in my hand but I have never shot one.

I do have a Browning BuckMark .22 and I like it. It is a nice target pistol.

red-beard 10-21-2005 05:19 AM

Good Pistols. I'm considering one right now. They are heavy, like the 1911.

Used to be my favorite 9mm. I love the thin slide, sight picture, and the grip. Howver, trigger reset is too long, is not positive enough for me. They require work to be really good. Try a CZ 75. I havent brought a HP to the range since I started shootng CZs.

I've had a Hi-Power "Practical" model for about twelve years now. I really enjoy the gun. Very reliable, even when I get lazy on the cleaning. Shoots any ammo you throw at it. I'm using it again tomorrow in an IDPA match. Also the best fit for my hand of any double stack. Local shop has CCI Blazers in 9mm on sale for $4.99 every week, so practice ammo is very reasonable. Love the Hogue wrap-around grips on the Practical model, and the two-tone finish looks cool. I also have two Browning Buckmark .22's that are unbelievably accurate. They make me look like a lot better shot than I really am. I'm a big fan of Browning products - very high quality, and you know it every time you use them.
