New Pest - What Do You Think It Is?

I noticed that our munch has been messed with - like someing was digging around it.

Saw these tracks (not the mower tracks but the other ones!)

I look over my left shoulder past the tracks to my boat against the fence ande notice something under it...

I turn over the boat to find this...

Best guess anyone? I think I know what it is that lives down there, any takers?

True a burrowing pest, but not really common in Texas compared to other critters...

Check out the size of the hole - true, there is little to use as scale except the boat, but it is about 6 to 8 inchs in diameter. A football could fit in it.

I hear she's going to be celebrating the 2000th soldier death by handcuffing herself to the gates of the whitehouse.

Any hints on the animal? Is it a Beaver?

Didn't the last two beaver related threads get locked and/or deleted?

Only one way to find out......... (I'm sure it's cute, cuddly and harmless)

Remember, DON'T wear any gloves, that might impede your grip when you're dragging it out of the hole.

Let us know how you get on.

armadillo? can't clearly see the tracks in the photo. our neighbor has one that dug a huge hole and lives under his old truck parked in the back yard. drives the dogs crazy every night as it digs around searching for food. we have them everywhere here. " Burrows, with entrance holes about 6–8" (150–200 mm) across. When foraging, often leaves patches of torn-up soil or leaf litter like those left by a skunk."

if it is an armadillo and you scare it, it jumps straight up a foot or 2. very funny to watch. that's how most get killed by cars. they are almost blind and will get on the highway. as a car goes over the top of it, it jumps straight up and hits the bottom of the car. they use them for leprosy research at Carville, La.

Ground Hog? I fight a constant battle with Ground Hogs to keep them out of my fields. I filled and covered three very similar holes on Sunday.

Hey Lube, you should put up a booth and charge admission. You have a better selection of wild animals and insects than most zoos!
