Anyone owned a Benz 190 amg Cosworth?

I saw one for sale with 100k miles in excellent condition. Very hot looking car. How are they on maintence, cost and reliablilty? I assume its like owning a early M3.

no, but I've considered it and driven a few. They are similar to an early M3 but a few hundred pounds heavier, and of course the two extra doors. They have self-leveling rear shocks that are a pain if they wear out, like the E28 and I believe E34 M5. I think maintenance, cost, and reliability would be as good or better than an E30 M3 in the same condition, the trick would be finding someone who knows what they are doing on 2.3-16 specific things, like valve adjustment or gearbox rebuild, if that was ever necessary (could take gearbox to BMW gearbox guy).

They are pretty fun to drive, but they don't have enough power or little enough weight to really stand out. If I needed a small sedan and there was a nice one for sale in my area, I'd seriously consider it. I might be more likely to go for an E36 M3 4 door since those prices are coming down, and it would be much easier to find a good one (just because 2.3-16s are so scarce).

I think it's worth going to drive it and see what you think.

Sorry no link. Saw it in the local paper.

Thanz Kobalt. I'll take her for a ride and report back.

They're sweet, and fairly rare. I've driven the AMG C36, and would think because the 190 is smaller, it'd be as fast a car.

I hope you don't care too much about safety. The 190 was, in its day, I think rated as one of the most unsafe sedans on wheels. But...

...it's still cool, particularly in a 5spd. The "Cosworth" part is good bling IMO.
