Honda Accord overheating problem?

My temp guage blasted to max this morning and the warning lights started flicking. I immediately pull over. I noticed a puddle of antifreeze next to the car. Anyways, dad pulls up, I upt some water in my radiator and add oil as well. I then drive about 10 mins and park and then let the car idle. No leakage or anything, even with motor idling. I then drive to parking garage with no issues. Any idea what could be happening. If I had a leak, I would expect the fluid to leak out and form a puddle. Any thoughts on where to look. I had the radiator replaced probably 2 years ago. Not sure why it would puddle and then not puddle.

Thanks,

David

Random overheating is a sign of failing head gasket. Have it pressure tested. Also, water pump impellers are known to rot out if the coolant isn't maintained -

It couldn't be the car's fault, Honda Accords don't break

Could also be a crappy thermostat. $10 bucks at NAPA would put that possibility to rest. Also, you may want to verify that your electric cooling fan is turning on via the thermostatic switch. These switches are typically located at the bottom of the radiator and go bad often.

The puddle was likely from your coolant overflow tank "over flowing."

It is common when cars get that hot.

My guess is the T-Stat.

Or could be the cause! I've had horrible luck with aftermarket t-stats.

Thermo switch for the Electric fan has gone bad. Common problem on Hondas. Replace the sending unit and it should fix the problem.

I had this broblem with both Hondas I owned and just hotwired the fan to run all the time. I am in Florida so it isn't cold enough here to hurt. I would not do that up North.
