btw, have any of you seen Jarhead yet? Saw it opening weekend...interesting film. I'd be curious for you take on it. From my conversations with my civilian contractor buddy, the boredom thing seems to be spot on...well, punctuated by bits of insanity.

I saw it as well and I thought the boot camp sequence was pretty good. But as far as the rest of the movie....pretty boring. They have to be kidding...a war movie about a guy that never gets to fire his weapon in combat.

The explosions were a joke. Artillery rounds coming in a foot or two from the guy and he avoids them? WTF, a 105 or an 8 inch or a 175 mm all make huge holes in the ground. Also at the end they're firing off their automatics and from the lack of recoil you can tell they're shooting blanks.
