69 Years is Long Enough
 

This is absolutely incredible. Three young 20-something thugs beat a 69 year old to death. At the sentencing hearing for one of these young men, his mother, in front of the grieving family of the victim, pleads for leniency from the judge. Her justification? The old fart was 69; he wasn't wasn't going to live forever anyway, was he?

Do you suppose, if it were possible for courts to hold parents responsible for the actions of their offspring, they would be a bit more careful impressing upon them the difference between right and wrong?

I'm going to throw some gas on the fire here, and probably get called a racist to boot. What the hell. The three thugs were black. The victim was white. None of you picked up on that. Why? Because it is not mentioned anyhere in the article. "The alleged motive was robbery, though nothing apparently was taken". Right. No one involved, none of the attackers, were apparently charged with a "hate crime" either. If the races were reversed, I kind of think the prosecutor, court, and press might have approached this a little differently.

What a vicious crime. I say they deserve nothing less than toture. Pieces of $hit...

Why is it that something like 90% of interracial crime is by blacks on other races, mostly white and hispanic, but its almost never called a hate crime.

I consider the term "hate crime" to lack logic. Who cares what the motivation or racial background of the criminal is when he's beating your skull in? He could claim to be doing it out of love...it's the CRIME that matters, not the emotional state or race of the perpetrator. IMO, if we all looked at it that way, all of us of all colors, the world might become a better place. Getting a LOT tougher than handing out a piddly 30 years sentence for a vicious
murder would help a lot as well.
