I have a very good friend that flies 744's for Cathay Pacific, one of the first airlines to get the new Airbus plane.

The jokes are flying fast and furious. He said there was a list being distributed asking cockpit crews which additional duties they would volunteer for on the long legs. The list included... bartender, massage spa therapist, handball instructor, art gallery monitor, laundry room technician, etc.

In actuality, under present regulations, he said he could do a takoff, and a 4 hour cockpit leg. Stop at the bar, have a drink or two, then check into the crews' quarters, get a 10 hour rest break, shower, dress and be back in the cockpit to do the landing on a completely different 'duty day', all on the same flight.

He is holding out to be a massage therapist.

BTW, a Boeing 777ER just set a new worlds' record for non-stop unrefueled city pair by a commercial airliner with passengers. Hong Kong to London. 18+ hours.

I read the 777 did 13,500 miles and was in the air for 22hrs 40 minutes

What a sight that must have been to be in one of those cars approaching the overpass.

Anybody know the wingspan on those ?

Steve, you are right. I remember the update as they passed the 18+ point.

Nice pic. This spot at the Singapore Changi Airport is about 5 minutes from my home.

Huge! Impressive!

But not beautiful like the 747.

I just want to see them try to get everyone out of the bird in 90 seconds when there is a problem. Getting 800 pax out in the required time will be very interesting...

I'm going to go ahead and be a bit nit-picky since I worked on this one...it was a 777LR, not an ER. :D

I actually got to see it in person about 6 months ago.

I was flying out of Telouse (spelling error), France which is where AirBus has a huge factory, also where the 380s are made. It had just made an appearence at the air show in Paris. As we were taking off I looked over...BAM... it dwarfed every other plan parked there. Its HUGE.

Compare the size of one of the cars to the size of the engines. Jeeeez....

I guess I will be getting the A380 expansion pack for MS Flight Sim
