Veteran's Day - just another political opp?

The United States will not tire or rest until the War on Terror is won, President Bush told an audience of veterans and military personnel in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, on November 11.

http://usinfo.state.gov/usinfo/Archive/2005/Nov/11-51316.html
Following is the transcript of the presidents speech:

THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release
November 11, 2005

"The stakes in the global War on Terror are too high, and the national interest is too important, for politicians to throw out false charges. These baseless attacks send the wrong signal to our troops and to an enemy that is questioning America's will. As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who send them to war continue to stand behind them. Our troops deserve to know that this support will remain firm when the going gets tough. And our troops deserve to know that whatever our differences in Washington, our will is strong, our Nation is united, and we will settle for nothing less than victory."

What are these baseless attacks Mr. President? Why do you bring them up on Veteran's Day?

That living fraud had the nerve to use Veteran's Day (Remembrance day in Canada) as a platform to make a political attack on the Democrats.

What a piece of work.

Would ther of been more baseless attacks made by the Veterans had they been allowed to present their case before Congress?

What better day to defend the troops from the baseless lies and attacks than Veteran's Day? Thank God we have a leader for a President for a change and not some poll-watching politician. I know that I really appreciate it...certainly more than the anti-miliatry protests here on Veterans day..or the person on NPR yesterday who was claiming that the US and British military were planting the car bombs and IEDs in Iraq.

I went for a walk today, stepped in a fresh steaming pile of Democrat. I knew it was Democrat because it was all squishy and stinky.

Bush stepped up and spoke in support of our troops at war...as any president would do on Veterans Day. He said: ``These baseless attacks send the wrong signal to our troops and to an enemy that is questioning America's will. "
and
"As our troops fight a ruthless enemy determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war continue to stand behind them.''

The ones who used veterans day for a politiocal op were Democrats:

"Americans seek the truth about how the nation committed our troops to war because the decision to go to war is too serious to be entered into under faulty pretenses,'' Harry Reid said.

John Kerry said: "This administration misled a nation into war by cherry-picking intelligence and stretching the truth beyond recognition. That's why Scooter Libby has been indicted. That's why a statement in the State of the Union Address was retracted,'' said Kerry, who voted in 2002 to give Bush the authority to wage war but later voted against additional funds for Iraq and Afghanistan reconstruction. "

and

"It's a dangerous day for our national security when an administration's word is no good.''

Sen. Edward Kennedy said Bush's speech honoring vets was, "a campaign-like attempt to rebuild his own credibility by tearing down those who seek the truth about the clear manipulation of intelligence in the run-up to the Iraq War.''

one word. Chickenhawk.

The brave men and women in Iraq are all victims too...of Bush's Regime . illegal war based on lies, deceptions, and mass media scare/fear tactics.
The American people are starting to acknowledge this.

The "Vets" you speak of can be:

Vocal

non-vocal

outspoken

recluse

well written

choose not to write

rich

poor

middle class

Democrat

Republican

other

.................................I work in the same building with two Vietnam Vet's, they are not happy with what's going on. Steps taken by this administration to quell their voices can be taken only one way. To quiet them on Veteran's day is an insult to them and to what they have given to us.
