SNL in the 80's
Anyone else watch this?
I thought it was...well pretty bland. They just marched from cast to cast, showed a few clips, and that was it. They talked about some of the "group" firings, but not about any of the individual firings like Damon Wayans and Anthony Michael Hall (still don't know what they were canned for...nor Norm McDonald for that matter). |
I have never been a big fan of SNL overall. 95% crap and 5% funny. Love Will Ferrel but even he had a bunch of bad skits.
Now Mad TV, thats funny S. |
Phil Hartman was by far my favorite person on that show. Really liked the late 80's/early 90's cast with Mike Meyers, Kevin Nealon, etc...
Didn't watch after that cast left. I was in college, too busy doing other things on Saturday nights. The cast in the last five years hasn't been so bad. I'll watch 4-5 times a year now. |
The weakest part of the show recently has been the writing. It's like they have enough material for a two minute sketch, then stretch it to five minutes with filler. Really low standards.
Also, the political stuff has gone downhill since Hartman's amazingly funny Clinton. That guy they have doing Bush is so weak. |
I like the current cast a lot. I just record it and fast forward through the junk, as always.

Wasn't Norm McDonald fired for cussing on during the "News"? I don't recall which bad word he used, but I seem to recall he got in some trouble.

SNL has sucked since they stopped doing the Mr. Bill show. |
