My wife hates my garage!
We bought our house about 15yrs ago and the garage was taken up by my beloved 1967 chrysler. The car left a couple of weeks ago and the renovations have been going non stop since then. I have installed lighting to rival almost any paint booth, gotten the heat up to speed, sealed off all the air leaks around the 40yr. old garage door, got TV, Stereo, and Microwave and the most important part of all a warm clean home for the SC. Now I can go and polish and tweek any time of day or night. I spend so much time in my new haven the wife is starting to get a little miffed.
Just wait until the car comes in for it's winter work. She won't see me for months. I think I might be a little compulsive.

Welcome to the Club, friend!!!
She'll get over it. Just keep telling her you are giving her some"me" time. She can read a book, take a nap, without you bothering her. This works pretty good for me. ![]()

Just don't put an intercom or phone out there....I did and yanked it out. They ALWAYS call you when yer under the car covered with oil screwing with a stuck bolt.

The intercom or phone would be a blessing, the garage is attached, the wife just hollars down the steps. Or walks in and speaks in the little wifey voice "what ya doing?" I think the answer might be to just put her to work, you know "honey could you hold this for me?"

Rick,
Your last comment is funny because I do have my wife help me with tasks on the cars. She grew up helping her stepfather work on old cars. She likes to be involved to some extent. SHe does a great job of helping bleed the brakes, BTW.

You can always get another wife.
A great garage is really tough to replace. OK, OK, maybe a little over the top......

Remind your wife that instead of working in the garage you could be down at the local bar getting to know women who could care less about a garage. Usually when they realize that working on anything at home is better then being out of sight...

RE: My wife hates my garage!
So does mine...that's why she doesn't come out to bother me when I'm in there working.

Its normal.
In the austrian wine country during the winters, after being stuck in the house with the wife for a few months, the men take all the sausage, schnapps, and bread they can find, and they dig cellars for weeks at a time.

Hey, I'm the one who wears the dresses in my family.
But seriously, as many of you know I am fairly recently divorced. Bought a good house with a good garage. Now I spend most of my evenings drinking Pyramid Snow Cap and tinkering with the car. Or whatever else I want. This is pretty cool. My psych and some other folks are telling me I'll have a GF soon, and my instant thought has been "I hope you're wrong about that."

I actually enjoy it when my significant other (bell) is in the garage. I appreciate our time apart, but I also enjoy hanging out in the garage with him. I get to watch and learn about Porsches AND we still get to enjoy each others company. And remind her, it could be worse...at least she knows where you are when you're in the garage

My wife and I spent the weekend in the garage at the "new" house. We found a different house in town, had been looking for awhile and the requirements were basically a smaller house with a bigger garage!
The garage was floor to ceiling in cobwebs and dirt. The previous owner (elderly fellow) probably hadn't even been in the garage for a few years. It looks much better now. We found a small fixer upper with a drive thru single attached garage and a double garage in the back. The back yard is also very large even with the garage so talk has already begun regarding an even bigger garage! Yes, my wife is a keeper!!

My wife and I just spent a good chunk of Sunday cleaning our garage and I have to say it looks much better thanks to her help. Of course now she want to park the minivan in there and put the Porsche outside. I stopped that thought right away.

I spend time with my wife in our garage as well, she barks out orders as I clean all the while the kids are dragging things out. It's a never ending saga - no begining and no end.
