I can't--the double-tracking they use on the vocals has the same effect on me as a 1/4 inch drill bit to the skull. However, there is one standout that I can listen to: Allison Krause. She can sing, she can play fiddle, she doesn't sound twangy, and she's good looking too...

Some of that sound you don't like is most likely attributed to pitch correction software, which produces some pretty crazy unflattering vocal artifacts. It's called Autotune. If you know what to listen for, this stuff is everywhere.

Well I can't guarantee 100% attribution here, but it's probably a reason.

Legion - my Wife was doing the same whilest I watched Boston Legal. Allison is one of her all time fav. I think we had all of her songs played at our wedding 8 years ago.

Nothing wrong with twangy. As I see it, it's the rest of the country that has a funny accent. ;)

I work out at the gym at the local university. It's cheap (alumni discount), and then there's the eye candy...
