show me your Keg-er-rator

OK, so I can't afford some fancy hydraulic lift for my garage. But I'm thinking that some cold beer on tap will help ease the pain.

You can buy an equipped fridge from some retailers for $400 or so, but I'm wondering if there is a cheaper way. I seem to remember some guys in college rigged one up on the cheap. Anyone know what's needed? I assume some Co2 and a fridge?

Used refrigerator = $200
CO2 reg from Homebrew joint = $40
CO2 bottle from your local bar (Where you've gotten to know the owner...) $20 cash.

www.kegworks.com sells kits. It's a little more than dhoward makes it out to be if you buy all new stuff or if you're limited on space. I just sold mine on craigslist for $250. You might be able to find something there.

Edit: dhoward, that Vintage Vinyl sticker is from The Loop in STL near University City. :D

I noticed it!
The advantage I have is that I have room for a full-size 'fridge behind the back wall of my bar. I can fit one half bbl + 1 soda keg of homebrew in it. Run the hose through the wall to two taps.
THere's the added advantage of having a frezzer on top to store tequila, vodka and Yager....

Yep. This one lived in a college apartment and then a small townhouse. Even then I sold it for lack of room. I'll probably build another when I have a garage. Building it was lots of fun too!

Was thinking about doing one of these recently. May have to work one up after seeing this thread!

Exactly like this one. Free to me about 10 years ago. Various tap handles.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1132768998.jpg:p

I should do that with my garage refrigerator. Its big enough I could get a 1/2 keg in and still have room for other stuff.

Keep it on CO2 and it'll stay good for a looong time...
