I willfully admit that I am old school, I have a modest home theater setup in my living room and my old Hifi stereo setup in my garage if probably a nicer system than what most people have in their house.

So I am watching holiday TV yesterday and an ad for the latest phone comes on the tube with... you guessed it "watch music videos on your phone!" complete with with a video clip of some model dancing around lip syncing to generic pseudo rap music.

Yeah right, that's how I want to watch music videos, with a two inch screen and one half inch speakers... cool.

BTW I own a cell phone and it comes in very handy but not for listening to music or taking pictures.

Porn to Phone Baby...

I was just about to join the rant and explain how I purposefully chose a phone that did NOT have a camera, or MP3 player, or anything else. Heck, it doesn't even have downloadable ringtones. It is a PHONE.

But then I saw this: Now, I suddenly find myself rethinking the multitasking capability of a phone....

Ring, Ring... Beep.... "Oh, look, boobies!"

Ah yes but as I said.

Why look at boobies on a two inch screen when you have a seventeen inch flatscreen on your computer?

Next they will want to take my fax machine and blender out of my car.

On my "phone" I have 2 episodes of Sienfield, 1 Simpsons about 15 Top gear clips, maybe 120 songs, Word, Excell, PowerPoint, a PDF viewer,a a program that tells you how to mix drinks, a couple of cool games...(the list goes on) ohh, almost forgot, I can make phone calls on it too.

So much integration and I sometimes wonder why, eventually we will move back to individual components again, I think its just a cycle until people realize that the individual items are better. Look at home theater units for example, components were huge and then Bose came out with their lifestyle system etc. We went and bought this nice all in one home theater system and one portion of it broke, can't fix it so we have to throw the whole thing away or donate it to someone. So, the next time I bought the home theater receiver separate and the dvd player separate. Lesson learned for me. A phone is a phone and should remain a phone. I do use the camera on my phone however for those instant pictures when I don't have my camera but that is about it. The music video and porn thing, I could care less about but for teens just getting phones and in high school, this is something to show off to your friends etc.

So next time I will see that ladies downloading videos on his cell and driving at the same time I will tell myself: why didn't I buy that cell phone jammer on EBay ?
