My snow mobile

Well here is my little truck I am suprised it is still in the drive. You never know how many friends you have until you buy a truck. She has 210k on the clock and uses no oil. It's been flipped, had the frame broken and is on her 3rd gas tank but keeps right on trucking. (no pun intended) Now we just need some snow!

She is going on her 3rd year of dirty service with many more to come I hope

Is that a 1990 Nissan pickup truck?

Here is my beater, 1990 Geo Tracker, 108,000 miles. I just put $800 into a whole new exhaust system (it's major design flaw).

Rusty but trusty.

See picture below.

Whee! I was going to start a "salt car" thread so I could show off my beast.

A friend of mine's father passed away in the spring, and she asked me to help sell off some of his stuff. (Boats, chainsaws, tools). She also offered me this Suzuki for $500. At first I said no, but when I mentioned it to my father he offered to go "halfers", so he could use it when he visited. What a great little rig it's been! It will go ANYWHERE, is good on gas and will haul a surprising amount of crap. It gets a lot of use up at the cottage, hauling out the docks, dragging stumps and rocks.

I just can't wait for the first good snow, so I can put it on its roof!

Edit: That's a picture from when I first hauled it home for rehab. It looks better now, with a fresh coat of Temclad.

Kach22i,

How do you find the Tracker in the snow? I remember driving a Sidekick/Tracker a few years ago... it drove like a crate but would go anywhere. I like the 4 doors too.

All in all, I find the Suzuki/Trackers are great little vehicles. Very reliable & well built, if a little crude. Real good beaters.

My 993 was a snowmobile on Wed. night. It got a good 150 miles worth of snow and salt spray on 95 North. Took it like a champ.

Snow is no problem, has to be up past the bottom of the doors before you have to worry any.

I once spun (semi controlled) while changing lanes when I hit black ice, it was in two wheel drive. Now when ever it's wet out, or a little snow or even really windy I have to lock it into 4WD for safety's sake.

Once after a big ice storm I counted 12 cars in the ditches along US 23 and M-14, four of them were Geo Trackers taken out the night before. All I could think was; dumb and young drivers driving when they should not of been - and they were thinking 4WD made them invicable.

There is nothing invincible about a short wheel based car only 12 feet long in severe weather.

The guy at the Midas shop says his buddy has a Tracker with a V-8 in it, a real terror.

Below is my chopped and zebra striped daydream - if I only had the time, energy and money.

Hey George, isn't that Ted Nugent's truck?!!!!!!
Dude, $800.00 for an exhaust system?
We could have installed a bling bling B&B 911 setup for that much dough.
If you ever need anything for either of your vehicles, give me a call. We can you save you a lot of money.

I know I could of got the work done for less at Midas, but I went to a shop that used good parts from Toyota. None of the crapy pipes from Midas ever last more than a couple of years. I hated going back all the time. I always put the stack of Midas envelops on the dash to let them know I was a repeat customer - don't know if that ever really helped.

Exhaust headers, Catalytic Converter, muffler and pipes - should outlast the life of the car. Like I said the exhaust system is the major "Design Flaw" in the Geo line. Never having to mess with it again is a huge thing over the long haul.

Catalytic Converter was the big ticket item, the heat shield had been wired on as it rusted away, welds broken all over the place....................looks like the on-line price is slighly less than half of what I paid. Oh well, never have to deal with again.
