What is the state of the

Libertarian Party?

Nostatic has talked about a revolution and most here are truly tired of the 2-party game. Democrats total lack of leadership, new ideas being few and far between. Republicans idea of leadership being to set a course with absolutely no provision for correction. Neither party taking responsibility for the Country as a whole.

Is anyone here actively involved with the Libertarians? Know what their plans are for 08? there's tons of talk about Hillary and Condi, but no other party is voicing an opinion at a time when it would be most likely heard, and needed.

I used to follow the Libertarian Party very closely, about ten years ago.

I remember back then, their plan was to eliminate income taxes and scale back the size of the federal government to just the Post Office and the military. It would be financed 100% by tarriffs.

I walked away because I felt that was too extreme.

I would like to see about 90% of the federal government go away, but I think we need about a half-dozen more departments than the Post Office and military.

They are pushing the "fair tax" now. (National sales tax)

I have been put off by the Libertarian's positions also. I once knew someone very active in the party. We had a lot of discussions. I walked away thinking that a lot of party planks would not survive implementation.

I often find myself leaning much more toward the democrats, but it not out of love. The Dems are not very organized and have too many positions that I don't care about. It would be nice to have a party someplace in the center -- Especially one that doesn't have years worth of special interest relationships.
