alan baylis's 930 on ebay (flipper)

looks like alans car that he had on here forsale is on ebay and relocated to chicago from california. i was interested in the car but there were several things that needed done. 15k service and several other non working items. looks like this guys trying to flip the car for a $13,000 profit. alan had it listed on here for 30k which was a good deal but there were some issues. i e-mailed them to ask about issues and they replied back they didnt know anything about the servicing of the car and was not responsible for any issues. here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4592941466&fromMakeTrack=true

I wanted the car. Unfortunately, smog concerns prevented me from doing so.

Hey....more power to him if he can make a buck. So what if he's a flipper.....isn't that what capitalism is all about? Buy low and sell high....

I bought my 964 from a dealer that shipped it up from California (along with 5 other p-cars)....I'm sure he made a few grand for his trouble. And I have no problem with that because I don't have the time or the will to do it myself.

I can't figure out why some on Pelican get their knickers in a knot if they see someone else trying to make some scratch.

People do it all the time with real estate....so what's the big deal?

WTF would a car w/ 32k miles on it need "a complete top and bottom end rebuild"??

Were all of those miles on the oval at Daytona?

Anyhow, looks like a regular old boring 1987 911 turbo w/ Kinesis wheels on it to me. Not exactly a rare or special car.

Alan's 930

First of all, thanks to Skruggs, yes, we do this for a living and thus for profit. Midwest Performance Cars tries to find exceptional Porsches and then goes after them with a blank checkbook to try to make them perfect before resale....anyone else out there buy and sell things for a living - stocks, bonds, retail of any kind?

Yes, this is the same car. We have performed a considerable amount of work in order to make the car perfect and to correct all faults. This includes the items Alan noted and some he may not have been aware of. Here is what we have done: 15K service with valve adjustment and plugs (easy while you are there), repair rear sway bar mounts, repair A/C, repair central locking system, replace a bad altenator and remove paint from altenator/fan housing that was causing altenator to rub, replace transmission shaft seal, replace worn oil lines, replace fuel gague light bulb, adjust front suspension so front tires do not rub, and repair dents caused by Alan rolling the front flare lips.

Sorry for the rant, but I do address issues and stand behind the cars we sell....I can give references right here on Pelican to prove my point.

Cheers

Tom,

Nice to have some feedback and post here a bit more and let us know when you get a interesting 911/930. Might get a few more sales than simply putting them on your website. There is a "cars for sale" section and believe that its ok for a dealer to post there but not sure.

Nothing wrong with making profit, we all enjoy it and if its well deserved no one will say a thing about it, especially if you guys stand behind the cars.

The 911 cars for sale forum is here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/

Tom, it looks like you have a great service and value add for Porsche lovers. Not everyone has the skills knowledge to select, and then maintain these cars.

Great website too, I like the My Garage feature.

I purchased my 930 from Tom just over a year ago. The car is wonderful and continues to be serviced and modified at Midwest Performance Cars. This is actually the third car that I have purchased from MPC.

Tom's one of few people I would trust with a Porsche anywhere. Solid, honest and thorough guy.
