speeder 12-03-2005 07:37 PM

Which range is that?

nostatic 12-03-2005 07:39 PM

God, I used to hate it when new RFPs came out. It always seemed like I had a maximum of 2 weeks - sometimes less.

Hugh R 12-03-2005 10:58 PM

RFP= Tell us all you know, how you'll solve it, give us the pricing and we'll give your proposal to our favorite consultant and let him use it. I haven't had to write a proposal in years and boy do I not miss it. I need to go skeet shooting soon. Anyone up for it? Oak Tree gun range in the Newhall Grade? I shoot free with friends (to a limited extent).

I wonder if this gun thing is going to become a new chicYuppie thingy.....Just like Cigar smoking used to be...Geeezessss...Gawd help us now....

tabs - may work, or may cause a singularity to form and destroy the universe. Most of those chicYuppies are anti gun. Maybe they'll change to pro-gun, but only for Purdy shotguns (or maybe LC Smith or some other small custom maker), custom made 1911s over $4k each, HK rifles, and Hammerelli target 22 pistols.

I can get a spread like that with my Mossberg alley sweeper.

Never happen, not to worry. Gun ownership, (and firing range excursions), peaked after the '92 riots for a few years and then died back down. I never hear anyone want to go to the range anymore; it used to be like going bowling or to a strip club, (other activities that have had their little spikes in trendy popularity).

No, actually Todd (nostatic) is engaging in a *non-trendy* activity at the moment and I commend him for that, with of course points deducted for MLC/finding inner man-child/etc... :p

That old grey-haired guy in the photo cannot be you...can it?

arcsine 12-04-2005 09:30 AM

So are you thinking "Take that Dean" or "Reorg this Provost"?

red-beard 12-04-2005 09:36 AM

I was at the range yesterday with one of my English buddies (loves to shoot when he's here in the US). The guys in the lane next to us were definitely gang bangers, complete with one of them having a smile of all gold teeth. One is shooting a long barreled .357 and the other has a very compact Glock.

The one with the Glock asked me if I could look at his sights and see if they were off. I told him he should ask one of the range officials (this is a well setup, well disciplined range). He says he saw how well I shot (mostly 10 X with my Browning HP and Springfield 1911) and wanted me to shoot his gun to see if it was defective.

I slip 3 rounds into the magazine and proceed to put about a 1 inch grouping at 5 yrds.

I felt like saying: "Son, ain't nothing wrong with that firearm!"

His buddy just laughs and starts really ripping on him....

We exited and my buddy just can't believe what just transpired.

my life has induced quite a bit of gray. Like moderating this place. What's a 44 year old to do?

Only my hairdresser knows for sure...

red-beard 12-04-2005 09:52 AM

I am fortunate. The bald is winning the battle against the gray. Whooo Hooo!

fintstone 12-04-2005 09:53 AM

44! You are a youngster!

red-beard 12-04-2005 09:53 AM

Actually, when I see photos of you I think: "Race Bannon"
