I hate:
1.) Soccer mom’s that can’t get out of their driveway without starting a phone call.
2.) Idiots talking loudly on their cell phones in public places.
3.) Business users that don’t put the phone on “silent” during meetings.

But get use to them. They are only going to proliferate:
1.) Wired infrastructure is old and expensive to upgrade compared to cellular technology.
2.) Major trend toward not having a land line and only having cellular.
3.) Convergence of data in all forms to the phone including Internet, email, music, video.

because it depresses them when nobody calls.

The day I can order Nuke hits, call in laser vaporizing rays to irradicate the Minivan in front of me gabbing on his/ or her cell, or make positive world changing decisions NOW, I will turn it on, until than it stays off.
Last year my total minutes = maybe 30 minutes.

Cell phones don't kill people; people kill -- no, wait, that's the wrong argument.

The cell phone is just a tool, it can be extremely useful if used responsibly (it's a tremendous time saver in my work) but can be annoying, or even dangerous, in the hands of irresponsible people.

Hey, maybe we need age limits, background checks, and testing before people are allowed to get cell phones!

I enjoy the convenience of having a cellphone, especially when it comes to making arrangements to meet people, if I'm having car issues etc..

However, I don't subscribe to the notion that because I have a cellphone, I am available to make/recieve calls 24/7. In fact, the same holds true for the home phone. I often let it ring without answering it, and I never answer it when I have company, unless I am expecting an important call. I CAN'T STAND IT when you are at someone's house and they answer the phone and talk for 20 minutes. My mother in law will do that when she's at the dinner table.

Mine stays off and in my car for emergency use only these days. I might turn it on if I'm expecting a call.

People got by just fine for many years without paying 40+ per month for a cell phone. I have one but as much as I use it, it would be cheaper to just find a pay phone.

When I have people ask me not to smoke around them, I ask them not to use their cell phone around me. Its a fair trade as both are dangerous.

First I had a pager. Receiving calls was like shock therapy. Then I had to pull over and find a working public phone all the time. Half the pages were people calling the wrong number.

Now I just got a sweet flip up phone with a slick Body Glove case, Internet access and lots of games available and a camera but nobody ever calls...duh:(

Half the time I can't get reception in the canyons around L.A. This has been the case with four phones so far. For their proliferation throughout the city, I would think this reception problem would be rectified by now.

I mean, what gives? If I have to have one (and I do), why the heck don't they work going up Laurel Canyon, Coldwater, Bendict, or along Mulholland.

I use Verizon, btw.

Any ideas?
