So for something most of the people supported by voting it in, a minority can object and it will be removed. Isn't the shoe on the other foot here?

The issue was the lottery ticket decorations, not the tree itself. Apparently the politician in question was against the lottery.

BTW, I still think it's a stupid thing to do...it's a friggin Christmas tree!! Make ornaments out of whatever you want.
