video compression question

I have a video clip that I want to share. It is short, but still comes up to 70meg. MPG format.

Should it be changed to a different format?
Or is there a simple way to compress it more?

Can I do this for free without downloading a spyware / adware infested piece of garbage?

Thanks.

VCD quality MPG is about 10MB/minute.
Converting to WMV will make it smaller for the same quality and the tool is free from Microsoft.

Converting to RM will also make it smaller, but you said no spyware / adware so stay away from Real. ;)
Converting to MOV will make it so it plays better on Macs than PCs. They wouldn't do the same for you. :D
