She Wants Revenge...the band

Showing my age here or downright refusal to grow old. Checked out She Want Revenge last night at the Filmore in SF. Great band and great show - very much a throwback to the 80s...Bauhaus, Joy Division, New Order. They opened for the Lovemakers which I didn't stay for.
Anyway If you went to high school in the 80s and you were a "mod" then you'll probably like this band.

On a flight last week from LA to Houston, I was on the plane with Edgar Winter and his band. I shook his hand and am glad to see he's still alive and playing.

Showing my age here as well, or the fact that I am a complete music dork:

Did you know that Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order bass player, and a huge influence) started a band in the '80's called Revenge? Don't know why I remember this crap, but back when Revenge released its first album I just happened to be at the post office with the GM of the local college radio station, who was picking up the promos for the week. One of the albums was a Revenge album. He gave it to me, and, IIRC, I listened to it once and then sold it.

Still love Joy Division/New Order, though.

I'll have to check out She Want Revenge sometime.

On a side note, it's funny how rock music seems to regurgitate itself every 20 years or so. Stuff that's popular now, such as Franz Ferdinand, Killers, Interpol etc. reminds me so much of Echo and the Bunnymen, Chameleons, Bauhaus, et al.

Yup, I'm getting old................

I love She Wants Revenge!!!

I have heard the pre-release album and it is awsome!, First impressions were that JoyDivision/New order and Bauhaus had a love child.

Finally nice to see a band with talent, as I am still stuck in the 80's.

It's been a long time since I have been excited about a band. I don't know if it's because I am getting older and I am out of touch with the music scene or what. I now get my info from the the sunday Target sell paper announing release dates of albums.
"Back in the day", I saw Jane's addiction at the Stone and the Filmore before they made it big. Damn, I even had Ritual 2 months before it was released to the public. Saw Primus at the local Community College during lunchbreak, saw Weezer open for my friends band at the Berkeley Square, saw Manson at Club Moe in Seattle then at Rock Candy. All these place are small venues. So many more examples of being "hip" to the scene back in the day.
Anyway SWR has been in all the CD players for the last few weeks.

Just listened to the stuff on the Geffen site. I like it, but I can't get over the lack of a live drummer.

Maybe that's just the bass player in me thinking, "without a drummer, who's crap will I have to haul to gigs?"

I'll probably buy it, though.
