Wow.
This is scary. Yet, this is exactly the direction politicians and law enforcement want to take our country.

I remember seeing a web site from England where they showed radar detection stations that were vandalized. I dont condone vandals but these cameras are just begging to be destroyed.

Legion, one must always be leery of those that say "If you are innocent, you have nothing to worry about."
|
That would suck, don't need no "Big Brother".

(BTW, I apologize for the jab on the other thread--it was more about mincing Supe's words than going after any of the people listed.) That's why I'm glad to see it looks like the Patriot Act is going to be significantly modified before being renewed. I actually wish that most laws had an expiration date on them, so that the kind of debate that is taking place on that law would happen other places. It's kind of a forced evaluation of how effective a law really is, rather than all of the extreme predictions both sides of an issue always seem to turn out before a law is even passed. It would always take up Congress's time and prevent them from passing more stupid laws. Don't get me wrong, I think the Patriot Act was a good first cut at creating tools to stop terrorists, but it needs constant monitoring and adjustment to keep the balance between security and liberty. |
We used to have photo radar in BC but a new government axed it. We do still have redlight cameras - something I'm OK with.

Legion, no problem. I thought it was cute.
Expiration dates are a novel idea worth considering. |
It's all about revenue enhancement. This way the politicians can spend more of our money without raising taxes.

Yep. That's true.... but who wants surveillance like that? "He who gives up liberty to gain security, shall find that he has neither" (or something like that) Stuff like this is happening in England... and the Liberals are in power. |
