official Coolest Porsche related part bought 2005

With all the other best of this year stuff out there I thought we should do "whats the coolest porsche related part/thing you purchased in 2005

I'll start With my purchase of EFI for my car That made me get a laptop as well so it was double duty. I think its pretty cool what did you guys get?

Superman 12-16-2005 09:44 AM

I took another 50 or so pounds of stuff OFF the car.

mb911 12-16-2005 09:45 AM

That works

widebody911 12-16-2005 09:51 AM

I got a set of carbon fiber turbo front fenders for $300 on ebay
Elephant Racing monoball camber plates
33mm Sanders torsion bars (things of beauty - a shame to grease them up and hide them away forever)
fiberglass cab hardtop (oh wait, I made that myself :) )
full cage (ditto)

glenncal1 12-16-2005 09:57 AM

For me the Weltmeister strut bar. The way that solidifies the front end (even on a coupe) was really $$ well spent. Ben I think one of your exhausts will be the one for 2006.

Scooter 12-16-2005 10:03 AM

Well, the coolest Porsche part I bought this year would be the entire car, but the single best part I purchased for the car would have to be a tie between the Recaro Pole Position seats and the 993 RS steering wheel (they work so well together).

Jeff Higgins 12-16-2005 10:11 AM

An original 1972 Washington plate, still with the 1972 tag on it. This allows me to permanently register it and keep the '72 tag forever.

VINMAN 12-16-2005 10:14 AM

replacement stoplight bulb

david.avery 12-16-2005 10:28 AM

Protomotive Stage I kit, 993 calipers

legion 12-16-2005 10:40 AM

Well, I bought the 951 this year...

Also, I put in a piston-type BOV, which replaced the broken rubber diaphram-type BOV. I think the fact that a broken BOV is essentially a half-inch hole in the intake between the turbo and the engine had a lot to do with the greatly improved performance.

porsche356a 12-16-2005 10:44 AM

Big Reds, BBS Rims, Elephant Racing Sealed Monoballs (F/R), ER Polybronze Bushings, Bilstien Sports, ER Rear Sway.

Why is this OT?

HardDrive 12-16-2005 10:46 AM

I think the 1st gear syncro John Walker just put in my 82 pretty 'cool'.

MysticLlama 12-16-2005 10:50 AM

Yeah, I did a lot this year too, hard to pick.

I did a stereo install
Removed the rest of the A/C completely
RS Carpet
RS Door Panels
BBS LM Wheels + S03s
Brembo GTP-LW brake kit
WEVO Shifter

Hmm... no wonder I'm poor.

I dunno, I love all of it, but I have to say I love the stopping power of the brakes on my 2500lb car.

That or the WEVO, which made the shifting much much better.

Okay, so that's two, whatever.

<sigh> since it's the only thing I bought that's porsche related. Sometimes I just go out to the garage and look at the old fan and fan shroud that I still have from when I had a 911.

Well, I am getting ready to convert the bilsteins on the miata to threaded coilovers with stiffer springs, and have my new tan top with glass rear window installed. I guess that'll have to do until I get another Porsche.

Peter T. 12-16-2005 11:00 AM

A pair of leather Monte Carlo seats from GTS!!!

Merrrryyyy Christmas!!!

masraum 12-16-2005 11:26 AM

I believe I'll be buying a BF Torino LeMans for my miata in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait.

ErVikingo 12-16-2005 11:33 AM

Cool suit and helmet cooelr for my race car !

thrown_hammer 12-16-2005 11:49 AM

I got a bank check for my Porsche…..;)

livi 12-16-2005 11:50 AM

Porsche coffee mug. Broke in the dish washer. That was cool. Back to square one..

id10t 12-16-2005 11:55 AM

Got a good deal on glass for all around my 356 except the windsheild. Gonna keep my original original and tint the spares, go a tad outlaw when I have the resto done (next year, stock market willing)

Tobra 12-16-2005 12:01 PM

That would be the rust-free(no really, i climbed all over and under it)sweet runnin' and shiftin' 2.0 '74 914 with 5 fuchs and 5 pedrini wheels for $2k

Either that or the VW turn signal relay for $8 when they wanted $35 for the same exact relay from PP :p

Shaun @ Tru6 12-16-2005 12:07 PM

Why the very first M&K single in-single out muffler of course!!! Honestly, there's no better reason to hit 7K all day long than this muffler.

three others hit the list:
Weidman RSR finished deep 6s, rears widened to 7Rs (shipped yesterday)

Original early leather sport seats

Excellent early S bumper picked up the other day.

Wrecked944 12-16-2005 12:14 PM

Easy. Turbo sway bars for my 944 N/A. I thought the car handled well before...now...holy *****...really nice improvement...

As for my 911, I bought some polishing compound and finally removed the oxidation from the paint. Looks much better. The only performance improvement I made to the 911 was seat time at autocross last summer. Oddly enough, the more autocross events I attend, the faster the car seems to go...who knew? ;)...

Hugh R 12-16-2005 02:40 PM

Real RS America Carrera Tail, and some stuff I added on to my A/C.

RSlater 12-16-2005 02:57 PM

Well I bought the 964 this year (1st porsche)
Liked it so much went out and bought the 79 SC.
Now when I'm working on one I'll have the other one to drive. Did I get addicted or what.

So you might say the coolest thing you bought this year was a John Walker's Workshop licence plate frame. :p

arcsine 12-16-2005 03:22 PM

A custom length shifter rod. Puts the shift know about 4 inches away from the wheel in 1st and 6 inches away in 5th. Got the idea from a JW thread and applied it to a factory short shifter, had the guys in the machine shop make the extension and weld it all up. Has great feel and only needs a light touch.
A very cool thing.

Shuie 12-16-2005 06:35 PM

Im not saying what I paid for it, but I'll nominate my find of a Carrera RS MFI system w/aluminum 019 pump on a shelf of an old hotrod Porsche shop that had been converted to a paint shop. 2nd runner up would be the complete 3.2 short stroke I found under a table in another old local Porsche hotrod shop for less than 1/3 the cost of the amount on the original build sheets.

BGCarrera32 12-16-2005 06:59 PM

Gas. Just happy to afford gas.

m325ix 12-16-2005 07:09 PM

gt-racing RSR bodykit

ZAMIRZ 12-16-2005 07:27 PM

No, I'm afraid a private investigator may be hired to remove the sticker and want to avoid vandalism to my car.

jjwood 12-17-2005 09:00 AM

Luv my Lindsey / Fuchs wheels. Now if I could just get the bodyshop to finish my flare widening!

oldE 12-17-2005 09:11 AM

For my birthday, my wife took a pic of the crest on the hood of the old E, took it to a potter friend of ours and had a jumbo mug with the crest made. Probably in violation of copyright, but a very personal thing.
