Anyone selling a full size 1911 frame?
 

Just stumbled onto a good deal on a Colt MKIV slide/upper and thought it would be neat to build my own gun. I don't want to just buy a frame and then have to source all the internals AND put it all together. So if anyone out there has a full size 1911 frame with internals, I'd be interested. If in VA, then we can go non-FFL. If outside VA, then it's gotta be through an FFL. Anyone?

Any gun shows in your neck of the woods? I see them all the time at gun shows and usually for a fairly good price. Might check there or Gun Digest or there is a gun auction house on the internet, forgot its name but should be able to find it using Google.

Glad to see you going with a 1911. The .45 auto is still one of the best pistols made.

Joe, my dad has one of the sweetest Commanders around (which cost $175 new when I helped my mom pick it out for him in the '70s), but won't pass it on to me just yet. When they retire and move to their beach house full time, I'll probably get it and give him a used SIG P220 for a house gun. For now I don't want to dump a lot of money into another 1911. I may bring my 1911 upper with me to AZ in a few weeks and drop it off at Robar to have refinished. Not sure if the current nickel finish is my cup o' tea. Gunbroker.com has some frames for sale, even ParaOrd. doublestacks. I wonder it that would fit. I'm just starting my research today. Gun will be some kind of two-tone with some goodies, light trigger, beaver tail, etc.

Thanks, but I didn't see anything on there except super expensive antique guns. I just need a plain jane 1911 frame and internals. Auto Ord. won't sell one to me, Sarco Inc. is out of stock with no date for the next batch, Caspian is a little fancier than I want, etc. I did email a guy on Gun Broker, but haven't heard back yet. I may have to wait for the next local gun show.

You may also PM Tabs. He may have some sources or insight...well, insight is a stretch but he may know something...well, knowing something is also a stretch...

I got those other suggestions on SIGforum.com. I'd really like to snatch that one on Gun Broker, if the seller can include the internals.

AZ has some very good gun shows, might do a visit and a gun show. Glad to take you there if you are in town!

Unfortunately, I won't be in AZ on a weekend, except maybe part of New Year's Day in Yuma. I need to fly home from El Paso the following Sat. Maybe Robar will have some frames laying around.

Right now Prewar Colt Commercial and Military 1911s are BURNIN HOT....even the preseries 70 Colt 1911s are movin...A Singer 1911 is 40K if U can find one, and a under seriall #4500 Commercial 90% in the box is in the mid teens.... Collectors just love those 45s.
