Corvettes! Now those are track cars!

I ran downtown to get my oil changed on my RX-7. I know the owner of the shop so he only charges me for the oil, I bring my own filter.

After that I ran to a sub shop for a bite on the run. A mail man is walking up as I am getting out of my car.
He asks:
"Whats with all these cars with huge exhausts and numbers on the back?"

I seriously reply, "Well I cannot speak for others, my exhaust is that size up to the turbo, and the numbers were assigned to me by the car club I run road courses with".

He laughs and says "Track car? Track Car? Corevettes are REAL track cars. Corvette, now that is a track car.

I decided not to say another word to him after that. I wish I was faster on my feet a good snappy response would have been perfect here.

You should've just started laughing at him "Yeah Right!! That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!!"

Then when he gets mad at you say "oh, you were serious?" and keep laughing as you walk away...

"Corvettes are cool. Especially if you are into getting hair plugs on your chest and gold chains the size of a boat anchor."

A good response would be, "Do you have a Corvette"? I'd bet he does not have a Corvette. And I'd also bet he's never been on a track. You see, die-hard track junkies understand that there is more than one great car for the track.

Actually the latest edition has been reported to behave rather well on a track. At least time wise.

That thought went through my head. He seemed a little agitated right from the start.

Sometimes I get embarrassed driving the RX-7. Sort of like Ari when he had to get into Loydes car in Entourage. I get silly looks in the pits at DE's as well. At least there, once a session is over, they are not quite looking at the car the same way. The smirks are gone and the questions start.

The guy just came across as a sexual intellectual (****** know it all) and it irritated me.

Cash - he was definatly slamming my car. I just do not know what his deal was that he felt the need to confront a total stranger. I guess it was a postal thing.

I've read some of the road tests, and there's no doubt they're getting better, and are pretty fast. Two reviews mentioned some kind of "squirreliness" in the back end under certain conditions that was kinda scary.

I thought ABS was supposed to prevent the back from locking up like that. Looked like one of the rear tires locked up and spun the car to the left.

Me thinks he tapped the brakes too late, and way too hard in that last turn.

Your take?

Watched it for the 4th time....................he was on the other side of the road, just missed the first tree before the brake lights went on and crashed into the second tree.

I guessing he accidently shifted into first gear which started a series of unrecoverable events.

Lucky for me a worn out 915 tranny will never let me do that.

From what I've heard - they've got the power and most of the handling down, but their brakes leave much to be desired.
