Deputy Catches Kids Drop From Burning Apartment

LOS ANGELES - An L.A. County sheriff's deputy caught two children who were dropped by their parents from the second floor of a burning apartment building early Tuesday morning.

A truck driver who saw flames coming from the building flagged Deputy Jeff Kim and a colleague down in the Watts neighborhood around 3 a.m..
Kim first caught a 1-year-old girl that the mother dropped from a window. Then the children's father appeared and dropped a 9-year-old boy.

Kim suffered smoke inhalation and a mouth injury from falling down under the weight of the older child.

The mother also jumped from the second floor. Another deputy who was at the scene says the children and parents appear to be uninjured.

A bystander overheard the deputy exclaim, "screw this, it ain't worth the third medal" as he sidestepped the falling mother.

'Kim suffered smoke inhalation and a mouth injury from falling down under the weight of the older child".

So whats the weight of your average 9 year old? 50-60 lbs? from a second story window? and from the video I saw Kim isn't a real big man to start with! Takes more than a big pair of balls to do something like this.

After the reception, did he spike it and do a little end-zone dance?

Think how well he'll do at the next dwarf-tossing competition...
