Air hockey tables

Anyone have a real table? How often do you use it?

We've had a full-size table for a few years. When we first got it, we played quite a bit...practically every day. Now...well, let's just say it's been several months since we've played. Infact, I think it was Independence Day weekend, when my wife's son/family came to visit.

It's still a lot of fun though.

I went to an international symposium on hovercraft and air cushion vehicles once (2002). One of the speakers was a hovercraft designer in the early 1960's (hoverbug). The large company that hired him and paid him for his research gave him a couple hundred dollar bonus to sign away all rights when his contract was up. Since he knew they were not going to build a hovercraft or commercial application based on his research he took the money. The fruit of his serious labor ended up as the first "air-hockey" game.

Air-hockey has made more money than any hovercraft company or hoverferry service - ever.

we picked up a table from an arcade that was going out of business a couple of years ago, along with a foos-ball table. we still get a lot of use out of them. our kids are 7 and 12 and between those 2 games and an x-box on a dedicated big screen we have all the kids in the nieghborhood in our game room all the time. I like this because I know where my kids are, and that they're well supervised.

don't bother with a smaller table, they suck.
