selling a car scams?

I just posted an ad on craigslist to sell my old jeep, and immediately (within 30 minutes) got four responses (seems odd). One wanted the VIN only, one wanted to see the car tonight (after 9pm? really odd!), another wants to see first thing in the morning. Is a Jeep Cherokee really that hot of a commodity?

Anyway, I'm now wondering if there are any new scams out there that I should look out for? I know the fake bank check (will take cash only), but is there any others that I should be aware of?

The VIN can be for Carfax puposes. The others....well, I'm usually very reluctant to give my address right off the bat. Have them meet you at work to view the car. Up here buyers are anxious to get their hands on a 4 x 4 for the season. Not sure about Georgia though.

I put an ad on cars.com for our Trooper and it had a lot of interest also... it sold in just a couple of days.

Personally, when I sell a car I suggest to the buyer that we meet at his bank to do the deal. That way I can see him get a cashier's check and he can see the title notorized.

Tell him you will meet him at the shooting range, just after your weekly tactical shooting match.

I'm thinking I priced it too low, my mailbox is filling up!

A college student is coming to look at it first thing in the a.m., sounds like a good kid. If he takes it, I hope the karma thing works and he returns the favor to someone else.

Thanks guys, good advice.

Craigslist is a great resource. When I am looking for something, or selling something, usually the first person to see it buys it.

Follow that little voice, don't do anything stupid, it will be OK. At home late at night is a no-no.
