Anyone been to a F1 race at Monza and/or Spa?

Has anybody been to Monza and/or Spa?

I am booking tickets for the 2006 Monza or Spa F1 races. I am looking for suggestions for the best viewing spots on those tracks. Monza track only offers grandstand seats opposite the pits, the first chicane and the parabolica, the rest are general admissions. Ticket prices vary wildly, and I want to avoid overpaying for grandstand tickets but at the same time I do not mind paying extra for a good viewing spot.

I have been to Monza and Imola several times...

Do not pay for grandstand tickets... Basically because the main straight is so long you will NOT see the start neither the finish.
Now without tire change the pit-lane has become a little dull.

At Monza now most spots (and the 1st chicane is one of them) have big TV screens where you can follow the race.

I'd go for the 1st chicane... it is one of the few overtaking places and you can see the outcome of the start.

The parabolica is not that spectacular either...

I have never been to Spa... but an excellent seat would be the one just after Eaux Rouge, where you can see (and hear) which drivers have to guts to go through it flat out...

Imola is a fantastic race... the little town is a lot more fun than Monza. U can stay in Bologna (or Imola itself) and have a blast....

A bit of humour about Monza. Went there to see the GP in 1986 (or so I recollect). Long line ups outside of the ticket booths to exchange our voucher for the actual tickets....took about an hour.

Wife (also known as my in-house travel agent) insisted on doing the exchange, I waited patiently at a nearby beer garden. Wife came back almost wild...apparently in the milling mass of people lining up, she was being groped, grabbed, caressed, fondled and otherwise being touched "inappropriately" by every Italian guy.... and there is a lot of them at the GP, believe me.

Her and an American lady eventually commiserated on their plight, and more or less clung to each other for the last while, not knowing which way to turn, look or what to do. I suggested that she could have belted a few of them across the chops....but since she is aspiring to 5' tall....she did not....I supposed, of course, that she actually would want to...

Other than that, it was a great experience. Every time Ferrari went by the crowd went nuts. Ate at a restaurant which expanded tables out to block half the street, met some great people, drank way too much wine, ate way too much fine food.

I've driven Spa....or at least when the section was a public road...its nearby to where we will be living in a bit, so we'll undoubtedly give the GP a visit then...it is my favourite track in the F1 circuit....
