It's going to be even more extreme next year... The ESPN crew reported that they'll have three (3) different helemts next year in addition to the 9+ uniform combinations. Lol. Let's focus on the x's and o's boys!

You boys remember a prominent tall/lanky left-handed QB from Oregon State from years gone by?
Name him & you'll get a chance at drawing for an autographed colored 8 x 10 of Fabian.

I remember Terry Baker, Ray Renfro and Mel Renfro in the Jefferson High school backfield dismantling my Benson Tech team in 1959 on their way to the state championship and a little national prominence.
Heisman Trophy, LA Rams and Dallas Cowboys.
Not the answer you wanted, but that was my generation.

Pretty sure you nailed it. Terry Baker is the only Beaver to win the Heisman . Don't know if he's left handed or not. Funny aside, the High School hero from my High School, class of '61, was a guy named Chuck Miller. He was good, scoring the only touchdown in the shrine game that year, named prep player of the year by THE OREGONIAN, other allocades. He got a full ride @ U of O Ducks. His competition there? Mel Renfro...Chuck became the punter...;)

While at Jefferson High School, Baker starred as a quarterback with the football team, and as a guard with the basketball team. He was a High School All-American in both sports, and went to Oregon State University on a basketball scholarship before joining the football team under coach Tommy Protho his sophomore year and became the starter at quarterback.

In his final year with the Oregon State Beavers in 1962, he led the nation in total offense with 2,276 yards, earned consensus All-American honors and won both the Heisman and Maxwell Trophies as the year's best college football player. Grady, you'll find this hard to believe, but in a twisted way, so did I. You see, I'm a Beavers fan. The Beavers are the state's "redneck" team, while the Ducks are the State's "country club" team...by tradition. Oh, Terry Baker "sort of" went to the pros. He was drafted by the then L.A. Rams, but released during training camp. I recall a Rams coach being quoted as saying that from the waist up, Baker was built like a choir boy...he definitely wouldn't have set any bench press records, but with good protection, he was a great college quarterback of his time. Very smart as well...went on to be a successful lawyer. Still lives in Portland, as far as I know.

"After college the Los Angeles Rams took him as the first player drafted in the 1963 NFL draft. Baker played with the Rams for three seasons, but never could crack the starting lineup, and in 1967 he played briefly with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League."

Whoops...guess I should have clicked the link...:o Nevertheless, he didn't have great upper body strength, was released from the Rams...maybe a contractual thing?
