Brief encounter with S4
 

so i'm turning left from scott onto central expressway in santa clara today. in the 2nd turn lane. as light goes green, i hear this screech and the car in the #1 turn lane takes off. immediately recognizing it as an audi s4, i give chase. even having the outside lane, i catch up at around 60 and pass, and let it off and do 55 in this 50 mph expressway. s4 does the same.

come up to bowers ave., the next light. light had just gone red--good. i'm still in lane 2, he pulls up to light in lane 3. now, i'm still not sure he want to run, so i let him make the move. i don't rev. light goes green, i immediately hear the revving and chirp (those s4's make more noise than you'd think), and i go too. he gets the jump off the line, and within 50 feet he's been passed. when i hit 70, i shut it down. he does the same behind me, and turns off at next light two minutes later.

with 250ish hp and awd, i thought he would do better off the line. granted i weight almost 400 lbs less with better hp & tq. perhaps he wasn't the best driver, i dunno.

for safety sake, shutting down at 70 was a must. even if he blew past me, i wasn't going to run any faster, even though it was a nearly vacant expressway with few inlets & exits.
