what is the guy that pickups your recycling going to think about you?

wow, we had a good amount of gin and vodka bottles that only had a few servings in them. well, over the weekend friends and i "cleaned" house. i was putting out the curbside recycling materials, and my neighbors were eyeballing my pile. tonic cans, beer cans, wine, bubbly, and all the bottles of hards. i had to put bags to the side. fantastic new years guys.!!!

That we're trashy...

I dunno, I put about 2 cases worth of Miller Lite bottles out every 2 weeks--lots of calnking going on when carrying them to the curb.

OffCamber00 01-03-2006 09:54 AM

...that we're winos.

Most likely that I not only drink a lot of beer and other stuff, but that I drinks beers that they have never even heard of:cool:
My biggest count for one week, no party, just me, was 92 bottles, boy did that get looks:cool:

You count?

I just noticed if I fill more than one recycling bin...

Superman 01-03-2006 10:32 AM

I've thought about that. My recycling bin is very large, and it is typically stuffed with so many empty Snow Cap bottles that it's got to be a little dangerous to empty.

Frankly, I don't care what the guy that picks up my recycling thinks of me. He picks up recycling for a living. I'm not out to impress him.

Besides, I'm certain that he's seen far worse than I could ever dish out.

He can think what he likes but I don't think he ever gets out of the truck to be honest. They just do a drive by and pick up and on to the next house unless of course they find something valuable. One man's junk is another's treasure (I think that's the line).

BlueSkyJaunte 01-03-2006 11:35 AM

We have to recycle our own stuff. So we load up the pickup, drive 20 miles getting 1.5 mi/ga, belching NOX and soot all the way.

Icemaster 01-03-2006 11:40 AM

They're just jealous.

Wish we would get serious about recycling. Lived in Europe for a while and they do it for real. We separate the stuff here in Phoenix and found out recently that at times they just dump it all togther in the end...

Joe, unfortunately I think alot of places in the US do that.

Also, it seems the types of plastics that are accepted is very limited. I used to think that if it had a recycle symbol (triangular arrow symbol with a number in the center) that they'd take it. Not so. IIRC, only clear glass is desirable as well.

We leave them $20 each Christms, so their thoughts can't be all that bad...
